What Is Design?
Design is the perfect balance of art and engineering. The word design to The Woodland Lantern represents a complete process from brainstorming to finished project. Design entails varying processes on how to go from paper concepts to complete structured and functional three dimensional form. A design is something that is utilitarian, meaning it has usefulness and function.
Everything is a design essentially whether a bridge, city, a cell phone, a chair, or a home. Everything is a design it just depends on the process. The time for high quality design to improve our world is now at every level, with every main world system both macro and micro. When it comes to world solutions, design in the eye’s of The Woodland Lantern is to put ecological creation at the forefront along with education. This is why The Woodland Lantern specializes in multi-disciplinary design and education. High quality design produces high quality outcomes whether that be the structure for a neighborhood or the plans for a community garden.
I believe with good design we can dramatically improve life on the planet for us. We are all one team. Once we have something designed and completed then comes interaction with designs. A main theme of The Woodland Lantern [TWL] is learning to not only design with ecosystems in mind but how to interact with the design to produce the greatest outcomes much long after the new project is “finished”. After design, interaction is the next step which is how the design is utilized in its journey for the remainder of its life.
